A Short Note on Subscriptions
Good Stuff, Criminally Cheap
Hi! It’s Eryk Salvaggio from Cybernetic Forests.
It’s not my usual day — I have something for Sunday in the works — but I’ve recently crossed 1000 readers!
I would love to have a bit more support for my writing on the financial side. With 1,000 readers, and just a handful of paid subscriptions, maybe I should pass a hat?
Starting today through September 1, the dog days of August, I’m offering a subscription code for readers to get in and support this (still free!) newsletter with a monthly donation of $1.00.
If you’ve ever found this newsletter to inspire you, or challenge you, or at the very least, give you something fun to read on a Sunday, here’s a chance to say: “Hey man, your work is worth one coin!”
If you aren’t sure, here’s a reminder of the fun stuff we’ve written in the past.
- Interviews with new media artists and thinkers like Michèle Saint-Michel, Iona Mischie, Kirk Pearson, Bani Haykal, Caroline Sinders, and Rūta Žemčugovaitė.
- Looks into generative art practices ranging from algorithmic resistance, to mushroom synthesizers, to Situationist Blockchains to Sarah Palin Forever.
- Examinations of generative AI and our relationships with it: from How to Read an AI Image to making Cinema Without Cameras.
- Historicizing cybernetic and generative art work from Harold Cohen to Fluxus to the Art Machines of Zagreb.
- And, of course, full free unqualified access to more than 24 hours of actual class talks about the past, future and present of generated images.
Is that worth $.25 a week? God damn it I hope so
If it’s just not the time for cash donations, I get it. You can do me another solid favor: spread the word and let people know that this newsletter has some good stuff.
Maybe one of those pieces from the archive excites you, or maybe you have another favorite? It would be awesome to send it out to someone you think would dig it, or to the social media channels of your choice.
In any case, thanks for your readership, support, and kind comments over the past several years and for those who have already subscribed, thank you especially!
